The dust-laden gas is admitted through the bag filter inlet where
the coarsest particles are separated out and drop down into the
dust hopper. The gas flows through the distribution arrangement
and is directed onto the bags in a suitable manner. The gas is
drawn through the filter material and the fine dust is collected
on the outsides of the bags. Heavier particles fall directly into
the dust hopper. The clean gas flows through the insides of the
filter bags to the outlet.
The dust deposit on the outsides of the filter bags is removed by
means of compressed air which is admitted as short pulses in the
bags. The pressure pulse causes the filter material to stretch
quickly and then immediately resume its original shape. The dust
deposit thus falls off the surfaces of the bag and drops into the
dust hopper.
The bags are grouped in rows with one cleaning valve and one
nozzle pipe for each row. The cleaning valve is a diaphragm valve
which admits compressed air into the nozzle pipe during cleaning.
The compressed air is drawn from a receiver on the side of the
nozzle housing. The holes of the nozzle pipe are located above
the ends of the filter bags.
The control unit opens and closes the solenoid valves in
accordance with a programmed pattern. The dust deposit has a filtering action at the same time as it impedes the gas flow.
The dust collected in the dust hopper is discharged by means of a
feeder into a dust bin or onto a dust conveyor located below the
filter.
